China Huadian Coal Industry Group's 2x350 MW low-CV coal power project in Xingxian, Shanxi province, has achieved full commercial operation after Unit 2 completed a 168-hour full-load trial run, the company said.

The milestone follows Unit 1's successful 168-hour trial run at 20:00 on July 13, marking the full commissioning of both units and the completion of the company's 2026 "dual commissioning" target. The project is a key provincial energy project and a coal-power integration demonstration in the Luliang revolutionary base area.

Unit 2 took 35 days from initial startup to completing the 168-hour trial, achieving "seven first-time successes" including boiler ignition, turbine rolling, first grid connection and full-load operation. During the trial, environmental equipment availability was 100%, and flue gas emissions were well below ultra-low emission standards. Coal consumption for power supply and auxiliary power rates met design requirements.

The project creates a closed-loop system integrating coal mine gangue disposal, power plant consumption and electricity feedback, avoiding secondary pollution and energy consumption from gangue transport. Using low-CV high-efficiency power generation and full-process ultra-low emissions, it absorbs solid waste at scale while reducing carbon intensity of power supply, extending the green coal value chain.

The project is expected to provide solid power support for Shanxi's 14th "Five-Year Plan" energy security goals and the start of the 15th "Five-Year Plan".
