Inter-provincial power trading hits 26.3 TWh in Jul

Beijing Power Exchange Center's latest data shows inter-provincial medium- and long-term markets began continuous daily operations in July, with 426 transactions concluded for July and August delivery totaling 26.30 TWh.

Transactions included 5.07 TWh of additional hydropower generation from major stations including Three Gorges, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Jinguan and Deyu.

An additional 4.23 TWh was traded from supporting power sources for the Jiquan, Tianzhong, Qingdong, Qingyu and Kunyu DC transmission lines.

Cross-regional and intra-regional mutual assistance transactions between North, Northeast, Northwest and Southern China grids delivering to Central China, as well as between Central China and Southwest China, reached 12.94 TWh.

Inter-provincial multi-channel centralized bidding and rolling matching transactions totaled 0.53 TWh, while inter-provincial green power trading reached 3.53 TWh.

As of end-July, the exchange's trading platform had concluded 3,123 inter-provincial medium- and long-term transactions for 2026, with a total trading volume of 1,663.70 TWh.
