PowerChina has fully commissioned the 450 MW Yiyang wind power project in Henan province, the largest single-capacity onshore wind farm in the central China province.
Located in Yiyang county, Luoyang city, the project comprises a 350 MW first phase and a 100 MW second phase, with 69 turbines, a 220 kV substation, 32 km of 220 kV transmission lines and 210.22 km of 35 kV collector lines.
The turbines include 7.15 MW and 6.25 MW units with a hub height of 160 meters and a rotor diameter of 216 meters, each blade measuring 105 meters. The swept area of a single turbine is equivalent to five standard football fields, boosting generation efficiency and land use.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate about 940 GWh of electricity annually, replacing approximately 282,000 tonnes of standard coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by about 775,000 tonnes.
The Yiyang project adds clean energy supply to central China and provides a replicable model for large-scale onshore wind base construction, as the country embraces its 15th "Five-Year Plan" period.
