Central Chinese province Henan consumed 34.77 TWh of power in December, a year-on-year rise of 5.89%, showed data from regulatory office of National Energy Administration in Henan.

The province consumed a total 390.82 TWh of electricity in 2022, up 7.16% from a year ago.

The primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – consumed 0.57 TWh of electricity, up 23.53% from a year earlier. The secondary industries – mainly the industrial sector – used 18.57 TWh, down 4.73% year on year, and the tertiary industry – mainly the service sector – registered a 9.94% fall to 6.47 TWh.

Residential power usage surged 60.78% on the year to 9.16 TWh in the month, while industrial power usage declined 4.7% on the year to 18.07 TWh, with manufacturing sector's consumption at 12.34 TWh, a 4.48% drop.

Henan produced 29.7 TWh of power in December, a year-on-year rise of 6.72%. Power generation in 2022 increased 13.6% year on year to 332.91 TWh.

Thermal power generation rose 9.38% year on year to 24.01 TWh in December, and hydropower generation climbed 9.38% to 0.66 TWh. Wind and solar power output came in at 3.37 TWh (+1.11% YoY) and 1.66 TWh (+44.92% YoY).

As of the end-December, Henan had a total of 119.47 GW of installed power generation capacity, up 83.3 GW year on year.
