China's central bank will further refine its modern monetary policy framework with Chinese characteristics during the 15th "Five-Year Plan" period, Lu Lei, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, said at a press conference on September 10. The PBOC will keep the currency stable to promote economic growth and effectively support high-quality development of the real economy, while gradually reducing reliance on quantitative intermediate targets and placing greater emphasis on interest rate-based tools, Lu said.
