China's meteorological authority said at a press conference in Sep 2026 that temperatures across most of the country would be higher than the seasonal average, with parts of central-southern Xinjiang, western Inner Mongolia, most of Gansu, northern Qinghai, Ningxia, central-northern Shaanxi, Shanxi, western Hebei and northwestern Henan seeing temperatures 1-2 degrees Celsius above normal. One notable heatwave is expected to affect China during Sep 5-6, along with three cold air outbreaks during the month.
