China's 200 MW first-phase solar project in Lobsar, Qusum county, Xizang, has completed construction and passed inspection, helping ease regional power supply tightness and secure the plateau's energy supply, according to Sinohydro Bureau 9 Co., Ltd.

The project, located at an average altitude of 4,700 meters, is among the first batch of key commercial photovoltaic projects in Xizang's Yazhong clean energy base and the largest solar power project in the middle and lower reaches of the Yajiang River.

The contractor undertook construction of a 150 MW solar area, including pile foundation works, bracket and module installation, and inverter and box transformer installation, deploying 48 photovoltaic arrays and 261,500 modules with 528 inverters and 48 box transformers.

Since commissioning, the project has generated clean electricity equivalent to saving about 24,600 tonnes of standard coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 68,500 tonnes, contributing to the green transition of the plateau's energy mix and supporting China's carbon peak and neutrality goals.
