India's average daily maximum power demand increased by about 9.4% YoY in the first half of Aug 2026, while total power generation rose by around 7.6%, local media reported. Renewable generation grew by about 39% YoY to 17.3 TWh, but hydropower output fell by around 17% to 11 TWh, requiring coal-fired generation to rise by about 6% YoY to 58.1 TWh.
