U.S. crude steel production was estimated at 1.82 Mst (1.65 Mt) in the week ending Aug 8, 2026, up 3.2% YoY but down 2.7% WoW, according to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). The capacity utilization rate was measured at 78.8%, expanding 0.6 pp YoY yet shrinking 2.2 pps WoW. The country's year-to-date crude steel output totaled 57.33 Mst, up 5.7% YoY, while the capacity utilization rate expanded by 1.9 pps to 78.9%.
