China unveils 15th "Five-Year Plan" action plan for power safety, targets new energy and storage risks

China's National Energy Administration on Aug 7 issued an action plan for power safety during the 15th "Five-Year Plan" period, outlining measures to strengthen safety management of new energy generation, improve technical standards for offshore wind and desert-based renewable bases, and enhance full-cycle risk assessment and prevention. The plan also calls for better professional management of secondary systems in new energy plants, stricter safety standards and evaluation mechanisms for new-type energy storage, and stronger regulatory oversight and information sharing in the sector.
