Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar said on July 30 that the country's sole nuclear power plant, Paks, will shut down completely for the first time in its 44-year history, as Danube River water levels have fallen to a record low, leaving insufficient cooling water. With river levels expected to keep dropping in the coming weeks, a near-term restart of the plant is unlikely.
