Chinese steel prices extend rises in late-Feb, NBS

Steel products prices in China extended rise in late February (February 21-28), according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).


The average price of construction steel rebar (HRB 400, 20mm) at 25 major cities in China stood at 4,198.8 yuan/t during the period, up 79.4 yuan/t or 1.9% from ten days earlier.


Prices of wire (HPB 300, 6.5 mm) averaged 4,417.8 yuan/t in the same period, rising 69.9 yuan/t or 1.6% from ten days ago.


Prices of common medium plate (Q235, 20mm) increased 91.2 yuan/t or 2.1% from the preceding session to 4,422.4 yuan/t.


Hot-rolled plate (Q235, 3mm) increased by 86.7 yuan/t or 2.0% to 4,323.1 yuan/t.


Seamless steel tube climbed 21.3 yuan/t or 0.4% to 5,011.9 yuan/t.


Angle steel increased 102.4 yuan/t or 2.3% to 4,516.4 yuan/t, data showed.
