U.S. crude steel production was estimated at 1.808 Mst (1.64 Mt) in the week ending Sep 5, 2026, up 1.7% YoY but down 0.6% WoW, according to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). The capacity utilization rate was measured at 78.3%, flat YoY but shrinking 0.4 pp WoW. The country's year-to-date crude steel output totaled 64.637 Mst, up 5.4% YoY, while the capacity utilization rate expanded by 1.9 pps to 79%.
