The Consultative Shipping Group (CSG), a policy coordination body of maritime authorities from 18 major shipping nations, warned on Sep 8 that geopolitical turmoil and an expanding "shadow fleet" are undermining the international rules that have protected shipping for decades. With over 80% of global trade transported by sea, the erosion of these fundamental principles poses serious risks to world trade, the group said in a joint statement. "Without seaborne trade, supply chains would fracture and the global economy would grind to a halt as we know it," the statement said.
