China's goods trade expanded 17.6% year on year in the first eight months of 2026 to 34.78 trillion yuan, accelerating 0.3 percentage points from the Jan-Jul pace, customs data showed on Sep 8. Exports grew 14.6% to 20.17 trillion yuan, while imports rose 22% to 14.61 trillion yuan. In August alone, total trade reached 4.65 trillion yuan, up 19.8% year on year.
