China's power exchanges completed 740.4 TWh of electricity trading in July 2026, up 18.5% year on year, data from the National Energy Administration showed.
Within the monthly total, intra-provincial trading reached 549.1 TWh, up 19.0% from a year earlier, while inter-provincial and inter-regional trading stood at 191.3 TWh, up 17.2% year on year.
By trading type, medium- and long-term contracts accounted for 678.6 TWh, spot trading for 61.8 TWh, and green power trading for 27.7 TWh, up 2.7% year on year. Grid companies' market-based agency purchases totaled 87.2 TWh.
In January-July 2026, cumulative power exchange volume reached 4,425.2 TWh, up 23.4% year on year. Intra-provincial trading totaled 3,462.6 TWh, up 26.8%, while inter-provincial and inter-regional trading reached 962.6 TWh, up 12.5%.
Medium- and long-term contracts in the seven-month period totaled 3,935.4 TWh, spot trading 489.8 TWh, and green power trading 191.8 TWh, up 5.6% year on year. Grid companies' market-based agency purchases reached 485.7 TWh.
