The Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project, known as the "Xinjiang-to-Chongqing" power link, marked its first anniversary of commercial operation on June 10, having delivered 21 TWh of electricity to Chongqing over the past year.

The project, China's first UHV DC transmission line to deliver power from a "desert, gobi and barren land" renewable energy base, is also the first direct UHV DC link connecting the northwest and southwest regions. It began commercial operation on June 10, 2025, with a total investment of around 28.6 billion yuan.
