Czechia's nuclear power generation reached an all-time high in 2025, with its share in domestic electricity output breaking the 40% mark for the first time, official data showed.

The country's two nuclear plants, Temelin and Dukovany, together generated 32.07 TWh of power in 2025, up 8% from the previous year and setting a new annual record, according to local media Seznam Zpravy.

Nuclear power accounted for 42% of Czech's total electricity generation, solidifying its position as the largest power source for the third consecutive year. Coal remained the second-largest source but fell to around 33% of the mix, while solar power contributed 5%.

The record output was driven by operational optimizations at the six operating reactors, including extended fuel cycles and safe, incremental power uprates. Daniel Benes, chairman and CEO of state-controlled energy group CEZ, stated that the six units now have a combined installed capacity of 4,220 MW, nearly 500 MW higher than the original commissioning levels.
