China sets most modest 4.5-5% GDP growth in 2026

China sets its 2026 GDP growth target at 4.5-5%, down from around 5% set in the past three years and possibly marking the most modest growth rate in more than three decades, excluding the pandemic-hit years. While policy support, infrastructure spending and investment in advanced manufacturing are anticipated to remain the key drivers, persistent weakness in the property sector, sluggish household spending, and external trade uncertainties and conflicts continue to weigh on the outlook.
