China released its 2022 electricity CO2 emissions factors on December 20, with an average of 0.5366 kg/KWh, according to a report co-issued by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Bureau of Statistics.
The figure provides a reference for calculating CO2 emissions from electricity consumption.
The CO2 emissions factors varied across China, with northern China registering the highest at 0.6776, followed by northeastern China at 0.5564 kg/KWh. Eastern China had an emissions factor of 0.5617 kg/KWh, while central China recorded 0.5395 kg/KWh.
Northwestern China stood at 0.5857 kg/KWh, with southern China at 0.3869 kg/KWh, while southwestern China saw the lowest at 0.2268 kg/KWh.
In addition, China's 2022 electricity CO2 emissions factors (excluding non-fossil traded electricity) stood at 0.5856 kg/kWh, while the emissions factor for fossil fuel-based power was higher, at 0.8325 kg/KWh.
