Shaanxi province's coal output rose in the first eight months of 2026 from a year earlier, industry data showed.

Coal output in Shaanxi reached 537.96 million tonnes in January-August 2026, up 3.8% year on year, according to the latest data from the Shaanxi Coal Industry Association. The figure was in line with the cumulative output for the province previously published by the National Bureau of Statistics.

In August 2026, the province produced 6.22 million tonnes of coal. State-owned key coal enterprises — Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, Shaanxi Investment Group and Shendong's coal mines in Shaanxi — produced 3.03 million tonnes of raw coal, accounting for 48.7% of the province's total. The monthly figure was slightly lower than the 6.82 million tonnes reported by the National Bureau of Statistics.

As of end-August 2026, coal inventory in Shaanxi stood at 2.52 million tonnes.

The province's comprehensive coal price was 752 yuan/t at the end of August 2026, up 93 yuan/t or 14.1% from the previous month, and up 242 yuan/t or 47.4% from a year earlier.
