China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a flagship subsidiary of China Energy Investment Corporation, sold 179,000 tonnes of polyolefin in August 2026, up 17.8% year on year but down 11.4% month on month, the company said in a statement released on September 16.
Cumulative polyolefin sales totaled 1.46 million tonnes in the first eight months, up 6.2% year on year.
The company sold 65,000 tonnes of methanol last month, advancing by 41.3% year on year, while total methanol sales rose 15.2% from a year ago to 492,000 tonnes over January-August.
Ethylene glycol sales reached 29,000 tonnes in August, surging 141.7% compared to the same month last year. January-August ethylene glycol sales grew 39.5% year on year to 212,000 tonnes.
The company attributed the year-on-year growth in polyolefin, methanol and ethylene glycol sales to production and sales adjustments based on market demand and price changes, as well as a low base in the same period last year.
