Anhui's mixed coal prices rose in August 2026 amid tighter supply-demand conditions, the provincial development and reform commission said.
The average mine-mouth price of two types of mixed coal under medium- and long-term contracts from key Anhui enterprises was 688 yuan/t in August 2026, up 0.73% from July and 18.01% from a year earlier, the commission said.
The commission attributed the increase to rising thermal coal demand during the summer peak period, compounded by coal mine accidents and safety inspections in Shanxi that tightened the market balance.
Meanwhile, steel prices edged lower as summer heat curbed construction activity, weakening demand for construction steel, while falling iron ore prices reduced cost support.
The average trading price of three steel products — rebar, round steel and wire rod — across Anhui was 3,438 yuan/t in August 2026, down 1.67% from the previous month and 4.79% from a year earlier.
Cement prices held steady in August 2026 despite persistently weak demand, supported by higher coal prices. The average trading price of two types of cement — 42.5-grade ordinary Portland and 52.5-grade slag Portland — was 305 yuan/t, flat from July but down 11.59% from a year earlier.
Fertilizer prices dipped slightly in August 2026 as demand entered its traditional off-season. The average retail price of three types of fertilizer — urea, ammonium bicarbonate and NPK compound fertilizer — was 2.04 yuan/kg, down 0.97% from July but up 1.49% from a year earlier.
