Indonesian coal miner PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) estimates its coal production in 2026 will come in at 22-22.9 million tonnes, representing growth of around 3.8-8% from 2025 production realization, the company said on September 9.

Coal sales for 2026 are projected to reach 26.9-27.5 million tonnes, up 8.9-11.3% year on year.

"ITMG continues to carry out its operational activities in accordance with applicable regulations and strives to achieve the set annual targets," President Director Mulianto said at the ITMG Public Expose Live press conference. The company has received approval for a revised 2026 work plan and budget (RKAB), setting its production quota at approximately 23 million tonnes.

Mulianto cited the El Nino phenomenon as a key production challenge in the second half, with falling water levels on the Mahakam River prompting ITMG to reduce barge cargo volumes to lower grounding risk and maintain smooth transport.

The miner's first-half production reached 9.9 million tonnes, slightly below the 10.4 million tonnes recorded a year earlier, while sales volume rose to 12.3 million tonnes from 11.7 million tonnes. The company is currently discussing its 2027 RKAB with the government and expects to submit it in October.
