Energy prices across Inner Mongolia autonomous region rose broadly in August 2026, led by coal and coke, according to the regional development and reform commission.
Monthly average mine-mouth thermal coal prices in Inner Mongolia stood at 405.14 yuan/t in August, up 3.75% from July and 13.07% from August 2025.
Within the region, average mine-mouth prices for lignite in the east were 324.14 yuan/t, down 0.19% month on month and 1.73% year on year. Thermal coal in the Ordos area averaged 546.88 yuan/t at the mine mouth, up 8.18% from a month earlier and 34.00% from a year ago.
Coke prices in Inner Mongolia averaged 1,709.38 yuan/t in August, up 0.33% month on month and 31.93% year on year.
Average ex-plant prices for domestically produced LNG stood at 5,727.50 yuan/t in August, with average retail LNG prices at 5,886.32 yuan/t. Both rose 0.96% and 0.50% respectively from July, and were up 16.51% and 13.57% from a year earlier.
Average retail CNG prices were 4.08 yuan/cubic meter in August, flat from the previous month but up 1.49% year on year.
