Xinjiang coal outbound transport to be boosted

China's state planner has convened a meeting with regional authorities and railway operators to expand coal shipments out of Xinjiang, according to a statement released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

The NDRC's operations bureau organised the meeting with the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region's development and reform commission, China State Railway Group and Urumqi Railway Bureau to assess outbound transport conditions and arrange measures to stabilize Xinjiang's coal production, strengthen transport capacity support and increase shipment volumes.

The commission said it will strengthen coordination and promptly address key issues in outbound coal transport from Xinjiang to ensure the region's coal contributes to national supply security.
