JSW Energy, India's leading private power producer, announced on September 4 that its installed power capacity has crossed the 15 GW threshold, reaching 15.03 GW following the commissioning of 1.57 GW since April 2026.

The capacity added so far in FY27 included 1.27 GW of renewable energy capacity, comprising 593 MW of solar, 108 MW of wind, 420 MW of hybrid and 150 MW of hydro, alongside 300 MW of thermal capacity acquired inorganically, according to the company's official release.

With the latest additions, renewable sources now make up more than 60% of the company's operating portfolio, or 9.07 GW, which breaks down into 3.13 GW of wind, 2.43 GW of solar, 1.74 GW of hybrid and 1.78 GW of hydro. Thermal capacity stands at 5.96 GW.

The company said it remains on course to meet its 3 GW greenfield capacity addition target for FY27, having already met around 42% of the goal.

JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity hits 32.4 GW, consisting of 15.0 GW in operation and 13.4 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewable assets, with an additional 4.0 GW in the pipeline.

Its locked-in energy storage capacity totals 29.6 GWh, including 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro and 3.2 GWh of battery storage, strengthening its ability to supply firm, round-the-clock power as the sector shifts toward dispatchable generation.

The company is also targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, along with carbon neutrality by 2050.
