China Aug late coal prices extend broad gains

China's domestic coal prices maintained broad gains in late August, with anthracite and coking coal posting sharply wider increases while thermal coal gains narrowed, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on September 4.

Anthracite (washed mid-lump) prices rose 9.1% from mid-August to 1,477.1 yuan/t.

Shanxi high-quality blend (5,500 Kcal/kg NAR) thermal coal edged up 0.9% to 870.1 yuan/t over the same period.

Primary coking coal prices ascended 16.1% to 2,371.4 yuan/t, up 328.3 yuan/t from the previous ten-day period.

Coke (Quasi Grade I metallurgical coke, 12.01% ≤ ash ≤ 13.50%) prices climbed 6.9% to 1,760.7 yuan/t in late August.

Urea (small granule) prices slipped 0.3% to 1,745.4 yuan/t, while ordinary Portland cement (P.O 42.5 bulk) fell 0.2% to 248.7 yuan/t.

Methanol (premium grade) prices advanced 9.0% to 2,873.2 yuan/t. LLDPE (film grade) rose 1.7% to 8,745.5 yuan/t, and polypropylene (raffia grade) gained 1.7% to 9,187.1 yuan/t.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices increased 2.7% to 5,724.6 yuan/t, with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) up 2.7% to 5,963.8 yuan/t.
