UN warns world will overshoot 1.5°C, carbon removal now critical

A new United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report states the world is set to breach the 1.5°C warming target enshrined under the legally-binding Paris Agreement. It stresses large-scale carbon removal will be essential alongside emission cuts to bring temperatures back down after the overshoot.
