Inner Mongolia's Nalinxili coal mine project in the Nalinxili mining area is set to accelerate construction after securing all required permits.

On August 20, following the signing of a state-owned construction land use rights transfer contract, the Yijinholo Banner Natural Resources Bureau and the Yijinholo Banner Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau issued the construction land planning permit, construction engineering planning permit and construction engineering construction permit on the same day, achieving "construction upon land acquisition".

Located in Yijinholo Banner, Ordos city, the Nalinxili coal mine project is one of the first large-scale coal projects approved by the state during the 15th "Five-Year Plan" period.

The project has a total investment of 15.1 billion yuan, with planned capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), a mining area of 98.32 square kilometers, designed recoverable reserves of 828 million tonnes and a service life of 81.4 years. It is expected to generate annual industrial output value of 4 billion yuan.

Once operational, the project will strengthen coal supply security and release high-quality coal production capacity, supporting national energy supply and the modern energy industry layout.

In November 2023, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the overall plan for the Nalinxili mining area, marking the 12th coal mining area in Ordos to receive planning approval.

The Nalinxili mining area is a key mining zone within the Shendong coal base of the Dongsheng coalfield, one of China's large coal bases. The area covers 591 square kilometers with coal resources totaling 10.3 billion tonnes.

The mining area is divided into four mine fields and one exploration zone, with combined planned mine capacity of 32 Mtpa. The Kuitenggou, Su Burgar, Haolaisu and Nalinxili mines each have planned capacity of 8 Mtpa.

The Nalinxili coal mine was allocated to Inner Mongolia Energy Group by the Inner Mongolia autonomous region government in 2018. The mine field obtained its exploration permit from the Ministry of Natural Resources on July 9, 2019, and received its mining license on December 10, 2024.
