Shandong province has received over 1TWh of electricity from outside the province through four ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission lines, supporting energy security and the green transition.

As of August 23, the Yindong, Lugu, Zhaoyi and Qingdong DC projects had delivered a cumulative 1,002.29 TWh of electricity to Shandong, according to State Grid's newspaper. The four lines connect Shandong's grid with the northwest and northeast power grids, with DC channel imports expected to account for 20% of the province's total electricity consumption in 2025.

The ±660 kV Yindong line, commissioned in February 2011, has delivered 402.09 TWh of power. The ±800 kV Lugu and Zhaoyi lines, operational since 2017 and 2019 respectively, have supplied 292.86 TWh and 262.97 TWh. The ±800 kV Qingdong line, commissioned in 2025, has added 44.37 TWh. The share of green power on these corridors is rising as supporting renewable projects come online, channeling clean electricity from the northwest and northeast directly to Shandong.

State Grid Shandong Electric Power has strengthened maintenance and joint protection of the four lines, including standardized inspection procedures and coordinated risk management with nine partner organizations. During this summer's peak demand period, the company deployed additional on-site staff, increased inspection frequency, and formed emergency expert teams to ensure reliable operation.
