Russian industrial safety watchdog halts Vostochnaya Denisovskaya mine operations

Russia's Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor) identified industrial safety violations at the Vostochnaya Denisovskaya mine, operated by Denisovsky GOK in the Republic of Sakha, according to Metals & Mining Intelligence. The regulator said flooding of the mine workings posed a threat to employees' lives and health, disrupted ventilation and increased the risk of an accident. The company has been temporarily prohibited from operating the mine until the threats are fully eliminated and safe working conditions are restored.
