Global crude steel output from the 70 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) totaled 149 million tonnes in July 2026, down 0.3% year on year.

The top 10 producing countries in July were China, India, the United States, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, Brazil and Vietnam.

China produced 76.9 million tonnes of crude steel in July, down 3.6% year on year. India's output rose 1.9% to 14.4 million tonnes, while the U.S. produced 7.4 million tonnes, up 4.4%. Japan's output edged up 0.4% to 6.9 million tonnes.

Russia produced an estimated 5.7 million tonnes, up 3.3% year on year, and South Korea's output increased 6.4% to 5.7 million tonnes. Turkey produced 3.4 million tonnes, up 7.0%.

Germany's output rose 3.0% to 2.8 million tonnes, Brazil was up 0.1% at 2.8 million tonnes, and Vietnam grew 34.7% to 2.7 million tonnes.

In January-July 2026, global crude steel output totaled 1.08 billion tonnes, down 0.6% year on year. China's output fell 3.1% to 577 million tonnes, while India rose 6.1% to 101 million tonnes and Vietnam climbed 28.0% to 17.9 million tonnes.
