Mongolia's coal output declined for a second consecutive month in July 2026, though it remained nearly 50% higher year on year.

Output totaled 11.17 million tonnes in July, down 4.59% from the previous month but up 49.05% from a year earlier, according to the National Statistics Office of Mongolia. Cumulative output for January-July reached 73.65 million tonnes, up 51.91% year on year.

Mongolia's iron ore production stood at 1.19 million tonnes in July, down 16.66% year on year and 10.11% month on month. This included 755,500 tonnes of iron sand, down 25.90% year on year and 10.12% from the previous month, and 437,100 tonnes of iron ore concentrate, up 6.22% year on year but down 10.1% month on month.

For the first seven months of 2026, iron ore output totaled 7.28 million tonnes, up 16.28% year on year, comprising 4.85 million tonnes of iron sand, up 10.61%, and 2.43 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, up 29.53%.
