China Jan-Jul rail coal shipments rise 2.4% YoY

China's railway network delivered 1.61 billion tonnes of coal in the first seven months of 2026, up 2.4% year on year, the National Railway Administration said.

Container shipments totaled 638 million tonnes during January-July, up 7.2% from a year earlier, while grain deliveries rose 3.4% to 33.51 million tonnes, ensuring stable transport of key materials.

Total freight volume reached 3.05 billion tonnes, up 1.4% year on year, with freight turnover rising 6.3% to 2.20 trillion tonne-km.

Railway fixed-asset investment stood at 440.6 billion yuan in the first seven months, up 1.8% year on year, reflecting steady growth in railway construction spending.
