Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) has issued an open tender to purchase 320,000 tonnes of bituminous coal for its thermal power plant, according to Invitation to Bid No. TPC11502A-A6 announced on August 7, 2026.

The coal must be sourced from Australia, Canada or the United States. Cargo is to be shipped in four Panamax vessels of 80,000 tonnes each, plus or minus 10%, with bidders permitted to offer one or more shipments. Delivery is scheduled for October through November 2026.

Quality specifications require 5,900-6,900 Kcal/kg GAR. Total moisture is capped at 15%, rising to 18% if ash content is below 10%. Ash is capped at 15% and total sulfur at 0.7% on an air-dried basis, with volatile matter at a minimum of 26% and fixed carbon at a maximum of 60%.

Bidding documents are available from August 7 through August 17, 2026, and bids must be received by 5:00 p.m. Taipei time on August 17, 2026.
