Mongolia Jan-Jul iron ore exports rise YoY

Mongolia's iron ore exports rose year on year in the first seven months of 2026, with China remaining the sole destination.

Exports totaled 5.16 million tonnes (Mt) during January-July, up 10.27% from the same period last year, according to the latest data from Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA).

Export value reached $365 million in the first seven months, up 9.70% year on year, with an average price of $70.64/t, down $0.37/t from a year earlier.

The customs agency did not provide monthly breakdowns. Based on historical data, Sxcoal calculated that July exports stood at 806,900 tonnes, down 2.18% year on year and 2.42% from the previous month.

July export value was $56.77 million, up 0.22% year on year but down 5.88% month on month. The average export price was $70.35/t, up $1.68/t from a year earlier but down $2.59/t from June.
