Russia's availability of vessels for coal exports significantly decreased by the end of Jul, 2026, Kommersant reported in early Aug. In the Black Sea, the number of available bulk carriers fell by 21% in a month due to increased shipping risks. In the Far East, the reduced availability of tonnage led to a 5-10% increase in freight rates, given growing demand in S Korea. Logistics constraints may increase the price of Russian coal on global markets, but this will not offset the increased transportation costs.
