Canada's coal output rebounded in May 2026 from the previous month but extended its year-on-year decline for a third consecutive month, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada.
Output totaled 3.11 million tonnes in May, up 1.8% from a month earlier but down 17.8% from the same period last year.

During January-May 2026, Canada's cumulative coal output reached 15.63 million tonnes, down 12.4% from a year earlier.
