Shanxi Coking Coal Energy Group has resumed production at two mines after renewing their permits, while two other mines remain suspended pending license extensions.

The company said on July 30 that Xiqu and Malan mines had completed license renewals and resumed production that day, with combined approved annual capacity of 6.30 million tonnes (Mt), accounting for 13.24% of its total capacity.

Zhenchengdi and Ximing mines are still processing permit extensions, with combined approved annual capacity of 5.50 Mt, or 11.55% of total capacity. The company said it is coordinating with administrative authorities to expedite the procedures and will resume production immediately once permits are secured, adding the suspensions are not expected to materially impact operations.

According to its 2025 annual report, Shanxi Coking Coal held 6.53 billion tonnes of coal resources at the start of 2025, utilized 36 Mt during the year, and saw resource volumes decline by 33 Mt due to changes in coal seam conditions at some mines. By end-2025, the company operated 17 mines, with 16 in production and one under construction, holding total resources of 6.461 billion tonnes.
