India empanels 16 agencies for coal exchanges

Pushing the proposal to set up coal exchanges, the Ministry of Coal in India has appointed 16 third-party agencies to handle sampling and analysis of coal and lignite destined for exchange-based trading. The move follows the notification of the Coal Exchange Rules 2026, aimed at ensuring transparent price discovery. An application window for setting up exchanges opened on July 15.
