Shenhuo Coal & Power mines 7.95 Mtpa of anthracite, meager-lean coal

Henan Shenhuo Coal & Power Co., Ltd. said its operating mines have an approved annual capacity of 7.95 million tonnes of anthracite and meager-lean coal, with the company holding only a stake in the Zhaojiazhai mine of Xinzheng Coal & Power, which has a 3 Mtpa capacity.

Shenhuo, one of China's major anthracite producers and the third-largest coal miner in Henan province by 2025 output, is headquartered in the Yongcheng mining area, one of the country's six key anthracite production bases. As of December 31, 2025, the company controlled 1.29 billion tonnes of coal reserves and 606 million tonnes of recoverable reserves, according to its 2025 annual report.

The company prices its coal products based on market conditions, using a volume-based but not price-locked sales model, Shenhuo said.

In its aluminum operations, Shenhuo's electrolytic aluminum capacity is running at full utilization, with about 90% of molten aluminum converted locally.

Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shenhuo New Material Technology Co., Ltd., is progressing with a 50,000-tonne-per-annum new energy battery aluminum foil project as per regulations, and the company plans to push forward the subsidiary's listing based on its operational performance.

Aluminum foil exports account for around 20% of total foil output, covering markets in Asia, Europe and South America, Shenhuo said. Pricing for foil products mainly follows an "aluminum ingot price plus processing fee" model, except for a small portion of export products sold at fixed prices.

Shenhuo's subsidiaries in Xinjiang and Yunnan each have a 400,000-tpa carbon anode project to meet their own production needs, the company added. Lower petroleum coke prices, a key raw material for carbon anode production, help reduce production costs.
