China's 10 largest coal mining groups (in terms of production) produced 1.17 billion tonnes of raw coal in the first half of 2026, a drop of 29.87 million tonnes or 2.5% from a year earlier, accounting for 49.4% of China's total coal output (above-designated enterprises), according to the latest data released by China National Coal Association.

China's total raw coal output fell in the first half of the year to 2.37 billion tonnes, down 1.7% year on year, data from National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. Daily average output in June stood at 12.70 million tonnes, a decline of 9.7% from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, China's total imports of coal reached 225 million tonnes over the same period, up 1.7% year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs.
