Five confirmed dead following coal mine flooding in NE China's Heilongjiang

Five people trapped after a coal mine flooding accident in northeastern China's Heilongjiang province were confirmed dead on December 23, state media CCTV reported.

The incident occurred at around 4:30 am on December 21 at Datonggou coal mine in Jixi city, operated by Heilongjiang Fengyuan Mining Co., Ltd.

After extensive rescue efforts, the bodies of all five individuals were recovered, and no signs of life were found, the report said.

Post-accident response measures are ongoing, and an investigation into the cause of the flooding is underway.
