China Coal Energy Co., Ltd, the listed arm of China National Coal Group, reported its polyolefin output at 125,000 tonnes in April 2024, up 0.8% year on year yet down 5.3% month on month.
Polyolefin sales stood at 137,000 tonnes, growing 3% on the year but down 8.7% on the month, according to figures released by the company on May 15.
China Coal Energy produced 64,000 tonnes of polyethylene, flat from the year-ago level but down 7.2% from last month. The production of polypropylene was 61,000 tonnes, up 1.7% year on year but down 3.2% month on month.
In January-April, the company's polyethylene output totaled 256,000 tonnes, up 3.5% year on year, while that of polypropylene amounted to 252,000 tonnes, up 2.4% from a year earlier. Sales of polyethylene rose 4% on the year to 262,000 tonnes and that of polypropylene stood at 248,000 tonnes, a 0.8% uptick.
The production of urea was 180,000 tonnes in April, increased 26.8% year on year but decreased 3.7% from a month earlier , and urea sales were 230,000 tonnes, up 27.1% on the year and 29.2% on the month.
The company produced 106,000 tonnes of methanol, down 19.1% year on year and 22.6% month on month and sold 110,000 tonnes, falling 20.9% on the year and 19.7% on the month.
