Indonesia launched a mandatory carbon trading mechanism in coal-fired power plants on Feb 22, covering 99 power plants with total installed capacity of 33.6 GW in its first-phase trial, with an aim to drive renewable energy development and help achieve net zero emissions by 2060. Coal power accounts for more than a half in Indonesia's total power generation.
