The first interprovincial centralized auction of green power from Hebei North to Beijing was successfully transacted on September 18, marking the formal launch of a point-to-point direct trading mechanism between renewable energy stations in Hebei North and power users in Beijing, according to the North China Energy Regulatory Bureau of the National Energy Administration.

The transaction was cleared through the national unified power trading platform, with more than 3 GWh of electricity traded. Over 60 market entities from Beijing and Hebei North participated in the auction.

The deal matched renewable energy supply in Hebei North with electricity demand in Beijing, providing practical experience for market-based green power trading and exploring a regional path for building a new energy system adapted to high shares of renewable energy.

Hebei North is a key part of the "Three-North" renewable energy base, with grid-connected wind and solar capacity exceeding 81 GW, accounting for 83% of total installed generation capacity in the Hebei North grid. Relying on unified dispatch through the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan grid, the region can efficiently meet Beijing's power demand.

To facilitate supply-demand matching, the National Energy Administration and the North China Energy Regulatory Bureau, together with energy and power authorities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, streamlined cross-regional trading rules and opened green power supply-demand channels, creating an institutional framework for direct green power supply from Hebei North to Beijing. Grid operators and power trading centers in the three regions refined trading procedures to support the transaction.

Going forward, the North China Energy Regulatory Bureau will supervise the power trading center to organize monthly green power transactions from Hebei North to Beijing on a regular basis, continuously improve the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated green power trading mechanism and expand trading scale and coverage, pushing more renewable energy from Hebei North to directly supply load centers in Beijing and Tianjin.
