U.S. crude steel production was estimated at 1.785 Mst (1.62 Mt) in the week ending Sep 19, 2026, up 0.6% YoY but down 6.1% WoW, according to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). The capacity utilization rate was measured at 77.9%, shrinking 0.5 pp YoY and 4.4 pps WoW. The country's year-to-date crude steel output totaled 66.537 Mst, up 5.5% YoY, while the capacity utilization rate expanded by 1.8 pps to 79.0%.
