China's general public budget spending rose 1.2% year on year to 181,451 billion yuan in the first eight months of 2026, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. Central government spending grew 6% year on year to 28,177 billion yuan, while local government spending edged up 0.3% to 153,274 billion yuan.
