S Korea to merge 5 state-run power cos into one legal entity

South Korean government is planning to merge its five state-owned generators, KOSPO, KOEN, KOMIPO, KOWEPO and EWP, into a single legal entity called Korea Power Generation, centered on renewable energy, as the country accelerates its transition away from coal. This is the first change in 25 years since they separated from Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in 2001.
